Jess and I got this little fellow a few weeks ago, from a different no-kill shelter in Buffalo. His previous family gave him up, although I don't know how anyone could give up such a cute little guy! He had to be treated for a skin issue which is why his fur was shaved. Originally he was named Vancouver, but we have changed his name to Nuada van Vancouver (after the king of the Tuatha de Danaan in Irish mythology, and because we didn't want to get rid of his first name entirely).
Like our hamster and piggies he likes to run around in the rodent-proof areas of the house. He is not at all nippy except he likes to sample feet for some reason, and will need to be broken of that. But he is always very gentle. It also only took him one day to be comfortable enough to beg for food any time anyone is up. Which really makes getting from the living room to the kitchen quite interesting, because it results in Raphael running to the edge of his area for a treat, Nuada jumping against the side of his cage, Pumpkin (if he is up) leaping up against the wall of his courtyard, and the guinea pigs singing away (they will also sing if they hear any sound like crinkling plastic - heaven forfend plastic be crinkled without feedling the piggies!).
