Sprouts

Post by Rachel on Thu Dec 13, 2007 10:37 pm

I used to always sprout seeds and legumes for the birds. Sure it was a hassle to rinse them a couple times daily and make sure they didn't get bacteria or fungus , but the joy of the birds eating them was fantastic. Not to mention the health benefits sprouts have, they are highly nutritous. They were always eaten up by the finches, conures, parakeets and Judy the Timneh african grey. I don't know why I got out of the habit of sprouting and preparing these morsels for the birds all the time. I have decided to get back into it for them, and gave myself a slap on the wrist and said " Bad Mommy" for not making them the good stuff. Not to mention the hamsters and rats will delight in eating sprouts too.
